The Colquitt Theater has a new sign, thanks to the help of The Sign Company of Tallahassee. The general restoration of this historic building included replacement of the distinctive lighted sign that once proudly displayed the theater’s name as well-recognized landmark.

Not having the original drawings for the vintage sign, long-removed due to deterioration, the owners relied on the professional talents and craftsmanship of Matt Hennessy and his crew to create an accurate replication of the original. The challenge included seeing that the sign maintained the general character of the rest of the building restoration, and yet complied with modern design standards and code requirements.

By using modern materials and carefully selecting the proper color scheme, including the neon that was part of the original design, both objectives were achieved and the finished result is an enriching enhancement to this beloved site. By day and night, it is a warm reminder of Colquitt’s earlier days and a pleasant addition to the this is part of town.

The owners were especially grateful for the efficiency and precision exercised in the completion of the project. Because The Sign Company of Tallahassee fabricates all of the work themselves, not having to rely on outside vendors for delivery enabled them to maintain their cost and time projections as promised.
